Last month a very good friend of mine and i felt like we needed some time out, a place to go where we could unwind and rejuvenate. This led us to booking ourselves in to the Hopewood Health Retreat which is now currently celebrating 50 years of health and well being- so we knew we were going to be in good hands. It is a sanctuary specialising in natural healing, delicious vegetarian food, relaxation, stress management, nutrition and weight control, gentle exercise, first class massage and beauty pampering.
What I absolutely loved about the place is there were no drill sergeants, commanding me what to do like some retreats have, and for those of you who know me, You’d know that being told what to do isn’t exactly my forte as I like to be my own boss- who doesn’t! Hopewood Health Retreat allows you to get back to a state of natural health and well being. Unfortunately for some of you my friends, that means no alcohol, smoking and coffee is allowed on the premises. So if you’re a smoker I suggest you kick that dirty habit right now otherwise you’re in for a bumpy ride. Sneaking alcohol doesn’t work either, another friend of mine tried and tested that one. I know this might be extremely hard for some of you, but Hopewood is all about getting healthy anyway, so just behave people!
Hopewood has naturopaths, life coaches and fitness instructors on hand and a day spa with all different kinds of treatments you could imagine to indulge in so your definitely kept busy which I like. The food is all vegetarian but surprisingly inexpensive and tastes absolutely delicious, I couldn’t get enough of it. Hopewood also has boiling water and ginger all around the place to relax you and I found myself becoming more and more calm every day. Can you believe one of my favourite activities became going for a bush walk in the morning! Who would have thought!
Even though it isn’t the most glamorous retreat it does the job. Hopewood is both peaceful and relaxing which is what counts. Whether you have a day, a weekend or a week to invest in your health and wellbeing—Hopewood has the perfect package available, but only to guests over the age of 16. I could definitely see myself going to Hopewood Health Retreat at least 3 times a year to recuperate. They are located in the peaceful foothills of the Blue Mountains on the banks of the Nepean River, approximately one hour from Sydney. Costs start from $275 per night twin share to around about $3540 for a 10 day stay. Of course costs depend on the package you choose and the room you stay in. I stayed in room 58 and I highly recommend it. The room had a clean bathroom so it was good enough for me!
