As the new year has just begun, I thought I should get a special guest blogger in to share with you what cosmetic procedures you should be indulging in this year to create The Younger You.
It is my pleasure to introduce to you Dr Mark Edinburg, a leading Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeon. He is also the Medical Director of The Eden Institute, with over 20 years of outstanding medical service and achievements.
So here are Dr Edinburg’s predictions for what will be the most popular cosmetic procedures (surgical or non-surgical treatments) for both males and females to have done this year.
3D Imaging
This is where patients can get a good understanding of what the final outcome will be for their treatment – either surgical or non-surgical. As with most things, you need to trust your surgeon. Not everything presented on a computer can be delivered in real life. Your practitioner needs to present realistic options for your treatment.
Minimally Invasive Treatments
 1.      Wrinkle reducers and injectable fillers.
When delivered by a skilled practitioner, the results are simply outstanding! This type of treatment is highly individualised, so you need to be discerning in choosing a highly skilled, experienced medical injector.
2.      Laser for skin rejuvenation.
Combine a highly skilled laser medical practitioner with a state-of-the-art laser, and there are a plethora of options available to treat a whole variety of skin issues, like ageing, pigmentation and rosacea.
3.      Sclerotherapy (vein reduction).
We find an increasing number of our patients want those little spider veins on their faces treated as they find them hard to cover up sometimes.
4.      Medical-grade Dermabrasion.
Like with most products, dermabrasion needs to be delivered by a skilled medical therapist, to obtain maximum results. Otherwise, you risk paying for a mediocre treatment, when you could do so much better for your money.
So there you have it, the top 5 treatments you should try to rejuvenate your skin in 2012 to keep up to date.
I also asked Dr Edinburg about Invasive procedures and these were his top predictions:
1.      Rhinoplasty (Nose).
Relatively affordable in a tough economic climate. Restoring symmetry to the face can give you a much more pleasing-looking face, without having the
obvious ‘nose-job’ look.
2.      Blepharoplasty (Eyelids).
Relatively affordable and a real face refresher without being too costly and too much downtime. Droopy eyelids make you look tired and aged. It’s amazing how
eyelid surgery can take years off your face.
3.      Face lifts.
For Baby Boomers who can afford it. There is nothing like a good, natural-looking facelift! It makes you feel better and gives you a spring in your step! People notice how refreshed
you look, and with a good facelift, they won’t know exactly why.
4.      Breast augmentation – (females only).
Stunning when done well! A good specialist Plastic Surgeon will deliver a natural look.
5.      Liposuction
When done for the appropriate areas, and by a skilled surgeon, the results are superb. This procedure may sometimes be combined with other procedures, like
tummy tucks too, there are a range of possibilities.

When it comes to knowing what’s in and what’s out in cosmetic procedures, you can’t argue with a surgeon and now thanks to Dr Edinburg, I know what I should be doing this year to keep looking more youthful and feeling great!
